Our Photo of the Month for November is Arrival at Bridge Street from Sarah Jenkins.
Sarah explains the shot as follows "The photo was taken in a local field, using a "Photo Plank" made specially for photographs.
The train is empty hoppers from Ffrwd Ironworks, near Wrexham....
The board is a laminated chipboard shelf, with cork laid for the track base. The tracks are lengths of Graham Farish Formoway, the later plastic sleeper track. The track is ballasted “in the usual way” with mainly Woodland Scenics ballast. Painted and weathered by hand brush. I do not have an airbrush.
Grass scatter was initially glued down with PVA wood glue, but it started to lift. I stripped the grass off, it came away like commercial grass sheets, so was re-attached using UHU glue. The scene really needs fencing, but at the moment the storage location would knock any fencing off…
The locomotive is a Bachmann 57XX Pannier Tank Loco. It has been “got at” with the late BR crest replaced by my favourite Early Emblem. The “Unicycling Lion”. It has also been weathered a bit. The Iron Ore Hoppers are the Weathered Limited Edition set of three made by Bachmann for the Modelzone chain, with some extra weathering. The models are intended for use on our “Scale” layout Ffrwd Locks. Set around 1952-1954 in North Wales, just to the North West of Wrexham on the GWR Moss Valley Branch."
